On Saturday November 24th 2012 the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire unveiled a milestone in Roman style which had been commissioned by  the Parish Council of Wall (Letocetum), near Lichfield,  to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Previously, on Sunday July 10th 2011 the Friends of Letocetum organised an Open Day at the site as part the National Archaeology Festival. Visitors were entertained and inspired by  various displays. These included Ms. Wenlock’s Roman Beauty Parlour, Cliff the Roman Blacksmith, a Roman herbarium, lamp- and tile-making, finds identification and handling, and much general information about the site. Roman military training (very serious) for children was also included, and the museum was open too. Special guest  was Mick Aston of Time Team, who began his career in archaeology at Wall. It was a great day!
